About the CEC and its Wiki site
Central is Going Green

The Central Environmental Coalition (CEC) is a new, volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization that was founded in Summer 2008 by a small group of local residents who had become convinced that the best way to promote Green awareness in Central was to help make choosing the greenest affordable options as convenient and desirable as possible.

The CEC is currently in the midst of mounting a recruitment drive among students and other young people, as well as a broad spectrum of local home and business owners. All residents of Central, as well as their friends and family, of any age, are eligible for membership, and are encouraged to take part in our discussions and activities.

Members' privacy and anonymnity is protected through the use of screen names and passwords, and your email address, as well as any other personal information, will positively NEVER be sold or given out to other persons or organizations.

In addition to its other community activities, the CEC is also gearing up to produce its first annual "GreenFest Central" in Spring 2009 to help highlight the endeavors of local groups, environmental organizations and companies helping to make Central one of the Greenest cities in the US.

What is a Wiki site?

According to Wikipedia, the world largest wiki site:

A Wiki <wee-kee> or <wick-ey>) is a type of website that allows users to add, remove, or otherwise edit and change most content very quickly and easily.

And that's exactly what this site is! It is a customizable piece of the Internet where users can edit content, upload files, communicate and collaborate.

How to create and edit pages - Quickstart

Once you become a member of the CEC, you will be allowed to create new pages and edit them, as well as add to other pages on this site. To edit any page, simply click on the edit button at the bottom of the page. This will open a text editor with a toolbar palette featuring numerous options.

To create a new page, the easiest way is to use the "create new page" form located at the top left of each page. Type in the name of your new page, including spaces, and click "create new page." A new page will open saying "The page does not (yet) exist. Create new page." Compose your new page, add photos or other graphics. and when you're finished, click the Save button at the bottom of the page. It's really a lot simpler than it sounds.

Although creating and editing pages is easy, there are many more options that will facilitate creating powerful and informative pages. Please visit our Documentation pages to learn more.
